saka spa yoga Yin Yoga
  • Create a deep stretch in seated and lying poses that we hold for 3 to 5 minutes. Yin Yoga is a gentle practice where postures are held for 3 to 5 minutes. This length of time is used to stretch the thicker layers of our connective tissues like the fascia (the mesh around the muscles that hold our body together). Mainly holding seated and lying postures, we reduce the use of our muscle power in Yin Yoga and this makes it a perfect complement to a dynamic (Yang) style practice. We let gravity do the work by sinking into the poses, finding our personal edge; with or without the support of bolsters, blankets and blocks. Coming out of our comfort zone by holding the poses for a longer time, we examine limits and explore potentials while developing attentiveness and awareness. This practice is available to everyone and will provide a rewarding deep stretch.

saka spa yoga Restorative
  • Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props to support the body. While Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga are similar in that poses are held for long periods, they have different purposes. Restorative Yoga is more focused on finding comfort and relaxation through more gentle poses. These healing postures help will release areas of tension that cannot always be accessed by a dynamic yoga practice.
